making pancakes
At the weekend I usually have pancakes for breakfast. My father makes us american ones, however today I felt like something different. I asked my mum to make French pancakes. I found a recipe and we got to work.
We put the flour in a bowl and dug a well in the middle. The well was where I cracked the eggs into. Then we whisked them together while gradually adding milk and water.
When they were mixed up I put them in the pan and my mum flipped them in the air. Finally they were ready and they tasted scrumptious.
Here is a picture of me sieving the flour, as in pancakes flour must have no lumps.

Pasta Making
For my eleventh birthday I got a pasta maker. I decided to make ravioli.
1. first I made the dough.
2. Next I put it in the fridge for an hour and a half.
3. When it had hardened I rolled it out till it was thin enough to put through the pasta maker.
4. Then I put it through the pasta maker.
5. When it was thin enough I made as many circular shapes as the dough could do.
6. Then I filled the circles with the filling.
The filling was made with cream cheese, cheddar cheese and spring onion. Here is what they looked like when they were finished.

The Great British Bake Off 2014
Last year I wrote a blog about the Great British Bake Off and this year I am watching it again. This year my favourite baker is a girl called Martha who is only 17. However, I would not have written this post if in half term I had not met a baker from the show. In Kenwood house at a food festival I met John Waite, the winner of The Great British Bake Off 2012. He gave a talk and did a demonstration about food. At the end he signed my book and I had a photo with him.

End of year party cake
In school we had an end of year party and I was asked to make a cake. Most peoples requests were a chocolate cake so that's what I decided to bake. As I wanted to show the class what talent I had for cooking I decided to pipe it as well. Although I have piped before, I had never written, only piped flowers and long lines. Surprisingly it was quite easy and a lot of people, (definitely including me,) enjoyed it. The top of the cake was hard like a chocolate brownie but the middle was the exact opposite. It was soft and sticky.

My first michelin star restaurant
In half term I went to an English beach called Whitstable. When I was there I went to a Michelin star restaurant. It was the first time I had been to a Michelin star restaurant. the restaurant was called the Sportsman. I had an amazing piece of Hake, (a type of fish,) served on top of some vegetables.
All the vegetables used in the cooking are grown in their garden, behind the restaurant.
The mashed potato is very smooth and buttery: they sieve it 3 times!!
This is the menu. If you read it I think it reminds you of an English seaside. Especially the one at the top. "Rock oysters and hot chorizo."

Master Chef
During the last few weeks, I have been watching a program called master chef. It is a bit like the program The Great British Bake Off which I blogged about before. On this program you can show your skills for mostly savoury cooking.
My favourite person was a lady called Ping. Usually she cooked Malaysian food but was always willing to try something new. Unsurprisingly she won Master Chef and was crowned Master Chef champion 2014.

piping icing on cakes
a few days ago, I made a ginger cake for my Grandma. This is a picture of a K mix which I used to stir the cake instead of a spoon.
After I had cooked my cake I decided to ice it. I used pink food colouring so the icing was like a pink rose. I had never piped before. Eventually I got the hang of it and it looked beautiful.
Here is the finished article!! Unfortunately I didn't get to try it, but my grandma said it was delicious.

Japanese tea
today I tried a new sushi restaurant. it is called Bento's. My dad tried a Japanese tea. Japan is famous for its tea. Anyway, as you can see from the picture inside the water is a flower. After a few minutes the flower will open and give the water flavour and it turns into tea. As I said from my sushi post Japanese chefs make sure everything is beautifully presented. I think this is one of the prettiest food or drink that Japanese chefs make and I'm sure lots of people agree.

fish pastry
On the night I got back from America I had this for dinner. It is a pie filled with salmon and vegetables. The green and red salad next to it is Israeli salad. It is cucumber and tomato with my own recipe for salad dressing. This pie is delicious to eat and I'm sure it is fun to make too.

strawberry and cream pancakes
In the winter holidays I went to America and tried lots of interesting food. This was one of my favourites. I went to a cafe in Washington D.C. called the pancake house with some of my cousins.
As you can see from the picture, I ordered pancakes with strawberries and cream. They were delicious and I recommend them if you go to the pancake house in Bethesda.
What is amazing is that every Christmas they open their cafe to the homeless and give them a hot meal. That means everyone can enjoy their delicious pancakes and waffles.
